This introductory, 2-hour course covers basic National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) concepts such as:  

  • The history of the NFIP
  • Important floodplain management terms and their definitions
  • Basic NFIP floodplain management requirements
  • Post-disaster requirements such as:
    • permitting
    • floodplain determinations
    • Substantial Improvement and Substantial Damage
  • Instructor: Brad Wenskoski, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
  • CECs/PDHs
    • Certified Floodplain Manager, ASFPM: 2 credits
    • Code Credit, New York State Department of State: 2 hours
    • Professional Engineer, Practicing Institute of Engineering: 2 hours
  • Registration fees: $25 NYSFSMA members, $75 non-members, $0 for code officials who are NYSFSMA members

 

This Course covers the content for the following 2 courses: Introduction to the National Flood Insurance Program (49-5723), and Post Disaster Floodplain Administrator Response and Flood Insurance Implications (49-6445).
