Description: New York's 2025 Uniform Code, effective December 31,2025, contains significant updates to the state's floodplain construction standards. The workshop explains concepts and reasoning behind the updates and highlights three changes building officials will want to be most familiar with: the expansion of flood-resistant construction requirements to Zone X (shaded)/500-year flood hazard areas, an 18-inch elevation requirement in tidal areas, and the introduction of a new term - Required Flood Elevation.
